Can using moisturiser make you hands drier due to stopping natural oils get to work?

Since having my first baby my hands, which have always been dry, have become so dry that the skin cracks and bleeds. My husband thinks that I use too much moisturiser and am preventing my skin from self-healing and producing its own oils. Can that really happen? And yes, my hands are in water more often than they used to be!

There's nothing in any hand creams I know of that could physicaly block a pore in the skin. (Think about it. If they were blocked, they'd swell like a boil or pimple if the liquid couldn't get out.)

As you age your skin will typically get dryer. But my money is on your situation: You are no doubt washing more things due to the baby being around right? You should consider wearing gloves whenever possible, even when using mild dish detergent. All of this is contributing to washing away your natural oils.

What gas will decrease a fish's ventilation by 1/3 and decrease pH in blood?

This is shamefull, but it is a study question i gotta answer, i could use some help.

you and your goldfish vital signs are being monitored by aliens
You and your gold fish are exposed to an unknown gas mixture (bubbled into the tank for your gold fish) after awhile, you notice that your ventilation, metabolic rate, and acid-base balance are the same as the control period (normal sea level air).

how ever your goldfish is only ventaling 1/3 as much water as normal, and ph has dropped well below normal range.

my guess is the unknown gas mixture is possibly oxygen, as the human body reacts strongly to changes in crabon-dioxide in the blood, rather then oxygen. While fish are sensitive to changes in oxygen more so then carbon-dioxide.

what do you guys think?

I'll vote for the co2..

Is water good for you?

I am a very active teenager i play football lift weights run and cycle every day i drink around 2-3 litres of water a day

I finish 2 litres of bottled evian a day and drink a few glasses of tap water for some
flouride intake which bottled water don't have
I have found out that too much water bottled or tap can kill
me yet some say it is very healthy

I have heard alkaline ionized water is the best source of water they say it brings water
back to life and prevents all sorts of deaseses and it contains andioxidants
but they say alkaline water is bad too

I am so mixed up can someone for the love
of god please help me i am so in to water i
can't do without it

I find that the more water I drink the healthier I am. I use bottled water because it tastes better.
According to my college nutrition textbook water is essential for helping our bodies to get rid of waste products, to maintain a balance of nutrients, and to replenish fluids lost by exercise.
If you're losing a lot of water through exercise you might also need to take or consume vitamin and mineral replacements of things that are water soluble and might get flushed out when you sweat a great deal.

hexagonal alkaline water the benefits from drinking it.?

I don't think there are any benefits to hexagonal alkaline water.

First, hexagonal alkaline does not make sense: hexagonal (or hexagon) is a shape, and alkaline is a descriptor of acidity (pH). So, from this name, one is to infer that the water, in a high-pH state has a shape? That said, H2O (water) is a 3 atom molecule and can never form a hexagonal shape. Water does not cluster (based on its asymmetrical charge, kinetic energy, atomic vibrations, and diffusion). Alkalinity of water is determined by dissolved ions. Pure water is pH neutral (7), so filtering water tends to even its pH.

Secondly, your body's pH (or acidity) is regulated through its internal chemistry necessary for cellular function. Therefore, a healthy person would have a pH within a homeostatic range. So, if your body is overly acidic (acidosis), your kidneys have failed, and you die.

Your body is perfectly capable of maintaining its proper pH level itself by drinking simple (potable) tap water.

The only benefit of drinking hexagonal alkaline water is to rid you of excess and unwanted money.

Write detailed equations showing the mechanism by which aspirin is hydrolyzed in boiling slightly acidic water

This is for organic chemistry lab, and I don't know how to answer that. Thanks!

Jeez that question gives me a headache….I think I'll take two aspirin and call you in the morning

The best Forget-Me-Not water/soil: Alkaline, Acidic, or Neutral?

I have these Forget-Me-Not seeds. I want to plant them. I have this really good Miracle Grow soil to use. And I also have this water system that changes the pH level of the water. I want my Forget-Me-Nots to grow great, but I'm not sure what pH level is best. Alkaline, Acidic, or just plain Neutral?

Oh yeah, and I'm growing them in Southwest America. It's pretty hot here, and it's also summer. Do you think they'll grow pretty well?

Thanks!

Here's a great site with information about growing Forget me-nots.

When hydrofluoric acid is dissolved in water, the ionized species are?

When hydrofluoric acid is dissolved in water, the ionized species are ?________.

a. H3O+ and OH- b. H3O+ and F- c. H2F+ and OH- d. H2F- and H3O+

Also, if you could please explain how/why! Thank you!

The answer is b.
Acids break down into hydronium(H3O+) ions and an anion when in water. Also, the molecular formula for hydroflouric acid is HF, where F is the anion and H is the cation. The equation for this reaction should be:

HF + H2O —> (H3O+) + F-

How do I add alkaline powder to the pool?

My mother-in-law has an above-ground pool and we’re wondering how to put the alkaline powder in it. She got a bag of the powder from somewhere (just a ziplock bag) so there are no instructions on it. Do we just add it straight to the filter, or dissolve it in a small amount of pool water first, or what? Thanks!

i own a pool company all you have to do is dissolve it in a bucket of water just a little at a time wait a hour re test and do it again if nessary eleven years experince

Apple cider vinegar as a treatment for problem skin?

Has anyone tried it?, orally in water or dabbed on skin with a cotton bud. I'v read of its amazing all round health benefits, the list is endless. It has also been noted for it's ability to help clear up skin imperfections and bring back the skin's natural radiance and glow by balancing the skin's ph with its alkaline base.
I decided to try it to tackle my minor acne problem as i'v tried so many other products (expensive and inexpensive) and unfortunately didn't get any relief from any of them.
I'v been using it for 2 weeks now and havn't really noticed much of an improvement, but i'm hoping that with a bit of patience and persistence, it'll help clear my skin up.
Just wondering if anyone has used it and what you think if it, good or bad? How has it helped you? Would you recommend it?
Thanks for any answers ; )
I need to know how long it normally is until I will see a noticable improvement in my skin. weeks? months?

Vinegar has been used for over 10,000 years as a preservative, cleaning agent, beauty agent and as medicine. It is created by fermenting the juice of apples. Apple cider vinegar is well known for many of its internal uses, but is also extremely therapeutic when used externally. It helps to maintain healthy skin and hair by restoring a healthy pH level. It soothes sunburn, cleanses and disinfects wounds, helps to heal bruises, helps with itchy scalp, dandruff and hair loss and soothes aches and pains. Used in bath water or in a clay facial or body wrap, it can help soothe itchy, irritated skin and help dissolve excess fatty deposits near the surface of the skin.

Apple cider vinegar is helpful to our canine friends. It is great for maintaining a healthy, shiny coat in dogs. It works as a repellent for fleas, ticks and other insects because they don’t like the acidic environment. Apple cider vinegar also alleviates hot spots, constant wound licking and canine skin allergies. Feeding 1 -2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar along with regular food can prevent dog urine from yellowing lawns and can ease the pains of arthritis.

The benefits of apple cider vinegar are endless. We recommend that you read as much as you can about this wonderful ingredient that can add benefit to many of your formulations. Use apple cider vinegar to make herbal hair rinses, face packs, bath soaks and more. For the skin and hair, try infusing the following herbs in apple cider vinegar: Chamomile, Calendula, Lavender, Horsetail, Oat Straw, Lemon Grass, Rosemary, Nettles, Neem and Marshmallow root.

Will i get thinner if i drink alkaline water?

we all know that alkaline water is good for our body, it reduces the excessive amount of fat. So, wht if the case that my body is indeed thin, not a normal weight, if i drink that alkaline water, will i get thinner? Or wht,..?? can somebody explain?

Thank u!

Hey there.

To answer your question: People don't just get fat from calories and fat; they get fat from acidic foods. For example, avocados are very high in fat, but they actually don't make you gain any weight because they're not acidic. When the body is highly acidic from acidic foods, it tries to balance out the pH by taking minerals from your bones and storing the fat in order to protect you. Fat is actually there to protect you. It's quite a bit complicated, but I hope you follow?

So basically it comes down to your diet being highly acidic vs. alkaline. If you eat alkaline foods, then you're probably not going to gain weight and you'll end up being a lot healthier. There are whole diet programs out there based on this fact. If you want to look one up, it's by Dr. Young. Just google it.

So what drinking alkaline water does is it helps fight the acid by balancing out the pH in your body, thus removing the need to store fat in your body to protect from high acidity.

So to answer your question as best as I can, drinking alkaline water CAN help you get thinner, IF you supplement it with a healthy alkaline diet ;)

If you want to learn more about this, you should visit www.alkazone.com, which makes some great pH water products. I have one of their ionizers at home and drink only alkaline antioxidant water now. Highly recommend.

Best of wishes
