pH is a measure of the acidity of a solution. Low pH occurs with acidic solutions; a pH of 7 is neutral and is most common in drinking water which usually ranges from 6.5 to 8.0. acidic water is often considered to be soft water and can cause corrosion of pipes and equipment. Hard water typically has a high pH, requires more detergent to clean clothes and causes scale to form on pipes and equipment. http://wsp.arizona.edu/
