What we don’t want to do here is to go off on a tangent regarding the way water is sold, and what’s in it right out of the tap…that would be too easy. For the purposes of this article our concentration will be on the restructuring of water that ends up as alkalized/ionized water. All water has oxygen in it, but because ionized, alkaline water has more hydroxide ions than hydrogen ions, it’s higher in oxygen than water with a pH of about 7.0 or below.
What is very important for you to know is that water forms what are known as ‘clusters’, these are molecules bunch together in groups of ten or more. Water doesn’t have to stay in this form, there are several ways to modify its structure, and also change its pH, it happens in nature all the time.
Today these events can be perpetuated by the use of technology and the mineralization and exposure of water to electrical current. What is pH? In brief pH shows us how basic (alkaline) or acidic water is. When water is high in ionic minerals or is exposed to electrolysis, the clusters in it are smaller, characterized by just six or so molecules bound together. Because ionized water has a reduced cluster size, it can flow more easily into and out of cell membranes. Again, for the purposes of this article we are talking about water that has been altered using electrolysis.
This type of highly structured water is actually more hydrating, because it can penetrate and saturate the cells quicker. For the same reason, it is also better in assisting in nutrient absorption and waste removal. In fact, highly structured water supports all biological processes.
